Real estate icon Barbara Corcoran goes viral on TikTok

Over the weekend, Barbara Corcoran took part in the ‘Grace Kelly’ challenge on TikTok – and it quickly went viral.
At the time of this article’s publication, her video had nearly seven million views.
The “Grace Kelly” trend comes from a song by MIKA called “Grace Kelly”.
The trend centers on a rendition of the song’s chorus: “I could be brown, I could be blue, I could be sky purple, I could be hurtful, I could be purple, I could be whatever you want.”
As the chorus plays over and over, TikTok users check in by sharing a personal story, usually a challenge they faced.
In the Corcoran video, she takes users back to the beginning of its real estate success story, the creation of the Corcoran Group.

At the start of the video, Corcoran recalls meeting Ramone Simone while working at Fort Lee Diner in New Jersey. The two hit it off and Simone offered him a $ 1,000 loan to start a real estate brokerage with him.
They then developed a brokerage house together for seven years. As the video continues, Corcoran explains that one day Simone announced that he was leaving her to marry their secretary. They split the company in half and Corcoran left to run The Corcoran Group.
As Corcoran left, Simone said she would never succeed without him.
Those words, she explains, fueled her drive to succeed.
“I knew then that I would rather die than let him see me fail,” she wrote.
As the video draws to a close, Corcoran explains that while Simone shut down her business when the recession hit, she made the Corcoran Group the number one broker in New York City. Twenty years later, she sold the company for $ 66 million.
The TikTok received broad support with thousands of comments. One comment reads: âIt was awesome. A great motivation that even through the hurt and the pain, we can still cross and create our own paths !! â
Another commentator said the video inspired her.
âThis is exactly what I needed to see today! Wrote the commentator. âI’m 51 and my husband left me for someone 20 years younger. I start again and I refuse to fail!
