Real estate companies step in to help flood-devastated Kentucky families

NICHOLAS COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) – Almost a dozen families are getting more help in Nicholas County.
It comes after devastating flash floods that swept through the region more than two months ago.
As residents of Nicholas County wait to see if FEMA’s call for help is approved, Kentucky Realtors have stepped in to help several families who are still suffering after devastating flash floods.
It has been more than two months since severe flash flooding swept through Nicholas County and after FEMA aid was first denied in early September, many residents are still wondering if the appeal will be approved.
However, Kentucky Realtors stepped in on Wednesday to help 11 families with $ 1,000 checks for their housing.
The money came from the company’s disaster relief fund which they set aside throughout the year so they could step in and help any community in any way.
The Fosters id onr families have helped and they say this money will go a long way to helping them get their lives back on track.
âIt’s going to be a lot, it’s like $ 10,000 for me today, I can tell you right away, it’s all a blessing and it’s a real big blessing,â said David Foster. âI have a mortgage on my house and that will help me get there and everything will help me. “
In addition to funds from the Kentucky Relators Disaster Relief Fund, the Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors has also stepped in to donate money to help families here in the community.
While 11 families have received money for housing, three more are in the process of being approved.
