British Columbia Lists Inventory in Canada Hits Record High
There were 19,214 active listings in the province of British Columbia, Canada, in October, the lowest number on record, according to the British Columbia Real Estate Association. The number of homes available for sale has declined for five straight months, but could rebound soon as rising mortgage interest rates begin to temper selling activity, said Brendon Ogmundson, the association’s chief economist. A mansion in Indooroopilly, a suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, is fast becoming the capital’s most expensive home. Situated on approximately 1.5 acres, the riverside property features a tennis court, infinity pool, library, and wine cellar. “I predict this property will break Brisbane’s auction record, which currently stands at AU $ 9.91 million (US $ 7.24 million),” said listing agent Jason Adcock of Adcock Prestige. “Houses like this in Sydney would cost between A $ 60 million and A $ 70 million.” 9NEWS
Most Expensive Home in Wisconsin Finds a Buyer
A sprawling Georgian-style mansion on Lake Geneva in Wisconsin, which was listed at $ 39.25 million less than three weeks ago, has found a buyer. Listing agent Tim Salm of Jameson Sotheby’s International Realty confirmed that the 14,145 square foot, 12 room mansion was under contract, but declined to comment further. The property belonged to the estate of Richard Driehaus, founder and chairman of Chicago-based Driehaus Capital Management LLC. He died in March at the age of 78. Chicago Tribune
