Gila River Hotels & Casinos officially announced its new project, Santan Mountain, at a groundbreaking ceremony earlier today on the lands of the Gila River Indian community south of Chandler. During the momentous ceremony, the Gila River Indian Community (GRIC), Gila River hotels and casinos, and project management invited partners and state officials to celebrate the historic addition of the fourth casino in Gila River, which was approved by the restored and state-amended Gaming Pact in May. .
Described as a “modern and welcoming desert oasis,” the vibrant entertainment and gaming venue at the southeast corner of Gilbert Road and Hunt Highway will continue to develop the legacy of Gila River Arizona hotels and casinos. With over 27 years of exceptional gaming experience, this new venue has been cultivated to bring a desired entertainment destination and ideal location to the growing South East Valley. GRIC operates Gila River Hotels & Casinos – Wild Horse Pass and Lone Butte, both in Chandler, and Vee Quiva in the West Valley.

The Gila River Santan Mountain development will offer lush backdrop, breathtaking mountain views, and state-of-the-art amenities against the backdrop of the scenic and pristine desert.
During the morning event, Gila River Indian Community Governor Stephen Roe Lewis and Gila River Hotels & Casinos CEO Kenneth Manuel simultaneously dug up fresh soil with the project team who includes Steelman Partners, The PENTA Building Group, Tynan Group and the team of casino extension owners. Governor Lewis shared his deep appreciation for community members and his enthusiasm for the future.

Gila River Hotels & Casinos has hired a renowned international architecture and interior design firm, Steelman Partners and The PENTA Building Group to design and build the Gila River Santan Mountain Casino, which is expected to take 18-24 months.
Paul Curtis Steelman, CEO of Steelman Partners, was at the ribbon cutting ceremony with Steelman Partners President Steve Anderson. Steelman is recognized as a visionary designer of global entertainment, hospitality and gaming architecture. Steelman said a key goal of the project is to bring texture, light and elements of the exterior to the interior. When completed, Santan Mountain will feature over 850 slots and table games, including mini baccarat, craps and roulette, as well as an exclusive High Limit gaming lounge. The new property will also offer several dining options and a lively bar in the center of the casino floor offering entertainment. A hotel could be added in the future. The project also provides for the improvement of roads and other infrastructure in the surrounding area.
